Santa Clara County and its jurisdictions contracted with the Food Recovery Initiative of Joint Venture Silicon Valley to create the Santa Clara County Food Recovery Program. The Initiative’s current focus is on Senate Bill 1383 readiness and implementation to support jurisdictions and local nonprofits in the fight against food waste – one of the most straightforward, effective ways to reduce greenhouse gasses in California.

Joint Venture’s food recovery programs bridge the gap between those who are hungry and the abundance of surplus food that is out of reach for so many, with a keen eye on the climate impact this redirection of edible food has on our planet.
